Prometheus tile

About Prometheus tiles

Prometheus tiles offer you an easy way to display data from your Prometheus instance in a SquaredUp DS dashboard.

An EAM-X edition license is required for this feature. To upgrade please contact [email protected].

To check the license edition you are using see How to check which license key is being used. To see what is included in different product edition licenses see the Licensing Overview.

How to configure a Prometheus tile

If you don't already have a Prometheus provider, you need to create one before you can configure a Prometheus tile (How to add a Prometheus provider).

  1. Add a new tile to a dashboard and click on Integrations > Prometheus.
  2. Select the visualization for your Prometheus tile and click next.

  3. Scope:
Select the scope for your tile (optional).

  4. Provider:
Select your Prometheus provider from the select provider drop-down and click next.

You can only use providers of the same type as the tile. Providers of other types won't be shown in the select provider drop-down.

  5. Query:
Enter your Prometheus query using the Prometheus Query Language (PromQL).
    Data step
Please can someone give me a useful description for 'Data step'?
An appropriate data step size (similar to a data interval or resolution) is set automatically based on the time period. This is so Prometheus doesn't have to return huge numbers of data points. The data step can be increased or decreased as required, and Prometheus interpolates the likely value(s) for the steps between the actual data points.
    Insert dynamic value

If you defined a scope you can use the mustache picker

to insert scope variables (values that refer only to the defined scope) into your query.

    Insert time value

You can use the clock insert time value button

to insert page timeframe and date variables in your query.

Avoid using a page timeframe shorter than the time span in the query, as this may not show any results.

    Time (Scalar visualizations only)
Default - the scalar value shown will be the last value.
Specific time - the scalar value shown will be that for the time selected.
    Timeframe

The insert time value button inserts time values into the query. Any settings selected from the timeframe section are also applied to further filter down the results of the query. So time settings from both the query and the timeframe affect the results shown, and should be used with care or you may not see all the data you were expecting.

The timeframe section allows you to determine the timeframe for the data. You can choose either to use:

    Use page timeframe

    Specific timeframe

    Custom timeframe

  6. Configure the settings for the visualization you chose:
  7. Click done to save the tile.
The tile now shows data according to your search.
