About VMware providers

A VMware provider is a dedicated provider that contains the connection details to connect over HTTPS to your vSphere environment.

You need to create a VMware provider before you can use VMware tiles.

What are Integrations and Providers

The user account specified in the provider must have at least the ReadOnly role in vCenter.

  • SquaredUp DS supports VMware vSphere v5 and above.
  • SquaredUp DS uses port 443 to access VMware vCenter via the VMware SDK.

Adding a VMware provider

  1. In SquaredUp browse to System > Administration > Integrations.
  2. Click VMware vSphere:
  3. In the Name box type in a suitable name, e.g. Prod VMware
  4. Enter the URL for the VMware vCenter server.
  5. Enter the Username and Password of a VMware user with at least the ReadOnly role in vCenter.
  6. Change Ignore Invalid Ssl to ON if you are using a self-signed certificate.
  7. Click Save.

To use the VMware vSphere provider in a tile see How to use the VMware vSphere tile.
